Sioux Falls, SD, October 9 – The Miami HEAT and Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today the hiring of Kasib Powell as an Assistant Coach, joining fellow assistant Anthony Carter on Head Coach Nevada Smith’s staff.
Powell, a former Skyforce standout, averaged 22.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists on his way to winning the NBA Development League’s MVP award during the 2007-08 season. Powell became the first player in franchise history to win the league’s highest honor. In March of that year, Powell was signed to a 10-day contract by the Miami HEAT, and eventually was signed for the remainder of the season.
