It may be a matter of when and not if for a potential Jimmy Butler trade this season.
On Saturday, David Aldridge of The Athletic reported the Miami Heat and Butler "seem destined to part ways" via trade at some point this season. He noted that could change if the Heat offered him a two-year, $113 million extension but called such a possibility "not likely."
While "nothing has approached a serious offer yet," Aldridge reported "the Heat are indeed seriously listening for the first time."
Butler has a $52.4 million player option for the 2025-26 campaign, and moving him would allow Miami to get something in return and not have to worry about that contract being on its books next season.
