For the past four years, the months leading to the NBA Draft for the Miami Heat were like episodes of Upstairs, Downstairs.
As the playoffs were consuming the team's attention on the main court at AmericanAirlines Arena, the scouting staff, often along with the coaching staff, would be spending part of those days working out prospects on the practice court one flight above. It was not unusual, even amid the height of the push through four consecutive trips to the NBA Finals, to see draft hopefuls in the same hallways as the players (but never on the practice court at the same time, which is not allowed).
