In a hazardous weather alert issued Wednesday afternoon, the weather service said hazardous marine conditions are also “likely to develop Thursday into Friday across the offshore waters of the Southeast Florida coast and again early next week across the Palm Beach coastal waters.”
If the initial forecast holds, it might feel like deja vu from two weekends earlier in South Florida, on April 26, when heavy Sunday afternoon thunderstorms rolled over South Florida, bringing near-hurricane strength winds to Palm Beach County and destroying COVID-19 testing sites in the process.
A few days later, on April 30, another powerful barrage of thunderstorms struck South Florida, bringing 60-mph winds to Miami-Dade as well as some downed trees and power lines throughout South Florida.
