Hassan Whiteside's reemergence on the NBA scene left enough of an impression for a fourth-place finish for the Miami Heat center when the results of the vote for Most Improved Player Award were announced Thursday.
Whiteside, who had been out of the league the previous two seasons while playing overseas, finished behind Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert in the media poll that was completed before the start of the playoffs,
Whiteside finished with five first-place votes and 88 points in the weighted balloting, with five points for a first-place vote, three for second place and one for third.
