The Miami Heat have followed up yesterday’s addition of big man Vashil Fernandez with the signing of former Portland Trailer Blazers guard Luis Montero and waiving center Keith Benson in the process.
Montero will wear number 44.
Benson, who signed with Miami on September 23, appeared in three preseason games with Miami and averaged 7.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 10.9 minutes.
Much like Fernandez and the recently waived Stefan Jankovic, Montero and Benson’s rights will likely be retained in order to help fill out the roster for their D-League affiliate team, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Miami must cut their training camp roster down to 15 at the end of preseason.
