The Miami Heat surprised everyone this past offseason by fully committing to a youth movement, most significantly by letting franchise cornerstone Dwyane Wade leave to the Chicago Bulls in free agency. Another extremely important move was matching the restricted free agent offer sheet the Brooklyn Nets assigned to Tyler Johnson.
There was plenty of doubt cast when the Heat decided to match the Nets offer, but that had nothing to do with Johnson’s basketball ability. In what would be described as the most lucrative free agency period of all time, Johnson was offered $50 million dollars over four years.
