After sitting out training camp with a calf strain, Hassan Whiteside won’t play in the Miami Heat’s preseason opener against the Charlotte Hornets Sunday night, per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
There is no timetable for Whiteside’s return, but head coach Erik Spoelstra said his status is improving. “He was able to do a little bit more today, and that’s all we’re looking for.”
Whiteside will be monitored on a day-to-day basis, but there doesn’t seem to be too much concern heading into the season. The Heat are likely playing it safe as we get closer to the regular season.
