The NBA has named Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 13 through Sunday, March 19. This is the first time he has been named Player of the Week in his career.
Whiteside helped guide the Heat to a 2-1 record and averaged 20.0 points, 13.7 rebounds and 2.67 blocks while shooting an NBA-high 73 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the foul line. In the process he became only the second player in team history to grab 900 rebounds in a season, joining Rony Seikaly (1991-92) according to the NBA.
