The Miami Heat’s starting center Hassan Whiteside impressed many this season with his league-leading average of 14.1 rebounds along with 17.0 points per game and a franchise-record 58 double-doubles. He also set Heat records with double-figure rebounds in 19 consecutive games as well as double-figure rebound games with 66 in 77 games played.
Though Whiteside did collect 18 points in voting for the 2016-17 All-NBA Teams, he finished well behind Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, who collected 54 points and three First Team votes, for the Third Team. Other notable NBA big men to fall short in voting include Karl Anthony-Towns (50), Marc Gasol (48), DeMarcus Cousins (42), Nikola Jokic (12), Paul Millsap (3), LaMarcus Aldridge (1), Blake Griffin (1) and Al Horford (1).
