Former Miami Heat point guard Beno Udrih has found a new NBA home, having been picked up by the Detroit Pistons, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania.
The Heat waived Udrih, as well as point guard Briante Weber to make room for preseason standout Rodney McGruder, who beat them out for the 15th and final roster spot.
Udrih, 34, was cut by the Heat last season and gave up guaranteed money to help the team stay under the luxury tax. Miami then signed Udrih this summer to a guaranteed deal of $1.5 million. Udrih will still be paid that from the Heat, in addition to whatever he makes from the Pistons.
