Florida has had at least 1,074 people die from coronavirus, the state said Sunday morning. A total of 31,528 individuals have tested positive.
In Miami-Dade County, the epicenter for the state’s outbreak, the 301 people who have died account for 28% of the state’s total. As of Sunday morning, the state reported 11,351 infections in Miami-Dade County.
The coronavirus death toll in the United States is 53,280, including more than 17,100 victims in the national epicenter, New York City. The country’s total number of cases was 929,730 on Saturday evening.
Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to provide a coronavirus update Sunday afternoon at Orlando Health, where he may provide more insight into how Florida will reopening.
