Five Stars is a series where we use the GameScore metric to measure each player’s individual contribution on each game. I use a small adjustment for plus-minus to give their defensive efforts slightly more weight than is taken into account with just blocks and steals. All players are included, no matter which team they play for. This article is for Miami’s three-point win against the Los Angeles Clippers on November 6th, 2017.
Whiteside played 31 minutes in total for the Heat, starting at center opposite DeAndre Jordan. He made nine-of-16 shots overall and all three of his foul shot attempts, with 17 rebounds (six offensive), three steals, two blocks, a helper, and a plus-8 rating along with his 21 points.
