The NBA Citizenship Award is awarded to “a player, coach or athletic trainer who shows outstanding service and dedication to the community.” If that doesn’t describe Dwyane Wade to a tee I don’t know what does.
Following the awful shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February, Dwyane Wade has organized multiple initiatives, becoming a voice for the students.
They include visiting the students on their first day back, donating $200,000 to help the Chicago youth join the Parkland students’ March for Our Lives movement in Washington, D.C. and dedicating a special exhibit “Parkland 17” in Miami’s Wynwood arts district.
