Could Wade Leave The Heat?
Dwayne Wade has spent his entire NBA career with the Heat. However, he could leave this offseason, reports ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Dwyane Wade's initial contract discussions with the Miami Heat have not produced a common ground between the parties, which has the All-Star guard preparing to field outside offers when free agency opens on Friday, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that Wade's representatives have made it known to multiple teams over the last several days that he will be on the market, sources said. Some teams have been skeptical, wondering if Wade would seriously consider leaving the franchise where he's played 13 seasons and won three titles.
This could be a leak to convince the Heat to pay up for Wade, who wasn't happy with contract negotiations last year. The Orlando Sun Sentinel reports the Heat aren't overly concerned about not being able to keep Wade. If Wade does hit the open market, he could draw interest from several teams.
When Will Heat Meet With Durant?
The Heat have secured a meeting with Durant and now we know when the Heat will have that meeting. ESPN reports Durant and the Heat will talk Sunday, June 3rd, in New York. The Heat's meeting is fourth on Durant's list, after the Thunder, Warriors and Spurs (in that order).
Interest In Dwight Howard?
The Heat's top two big men targets appear to be Hassan Whiteside and Al Horford. If they Heat miss out on both, a third target could be Dwight Howard. ESPN reports the Celtics and Hawks have secured meetings with Howard and that the Heat could emerge as a serious contender. Howard isn't the offensive threat he once was, but would provide defense and rebounding in the post.
