After losing Dwyane Wade to the Bulls, the Miami Heat have been rumored to be exploring the idea of trading away point guard Goran Dragic this season - especially if Chris Bosh's blood clots force him to retire.
Miami seems to be headed towards a rebuilding period, and parting ways with Dragic would likely give them the most assets in return. According to Fansided's Michael Saenz, the Pelicans are a team that may have interest in Dragic:
Dragic likes to run, and that would fit right into what the Pelicans want to do. With Anthony Davis needed someone to come in and relieve some of the pressure on his shoulders, Dragic could be that man. He could run the offense and find open lanes, or his sweet spots, for Davis and hit Hield on the perimeter.
Plus, Dragic doesn’t really have a history with injuries so it’s not that much of a risk. Considering that the Pelicans really need any help to place next to Davis, trading for Dragic would not be a terrible idea.
New Orleans also figures to be a logical trade partner because of the assets they can give Miami back in return. They have all of their first-round picks - which figure to be potential lottery selections - and the Heat could acquire one or two of them in return.
Dragic averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists per game last season.
