The Miami Heat had a busy NBA Trade Deadline, but mostly from an addition-by-subtraction standpoint. With that being said, here's an overview of Miami's Trade Deadline dealings on Thursday.
Miami Trades Jarnell Stokes To New Orleans
The Heat have come to an accord with the New Orleans Pelicans on a trade sending forward Jarnell Stokes to the Pelicans for a highly-protected draft pick that may not ever come to Miami and a cash payment to take care of the rest of Stokes' salary.
This move is of a similar ilk to the one which sent Chris Andersen to the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this week -- a tax-saving measure that'll help to reduce the team's overall luxury-tax obligation. With the Stokes move, Miami moved to within $2.6 million of getting below the 2015-16 luxury tax threshold. More Heat news and rumors inside the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps!

Brian Roberts Has A Short Stay, Heads To Portland
Just a couple days after acquiring backup point guard Brian Roberts in the Chris Andersen trade, the Heat have shipped him off with a second-round draft pick to the Portland Trail Blazers.
It's another pure cost-cutting measure for the Heat, who are now under the luxury tax threshold and will save $6 million with the trade (per The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski)
