We're in the beginning stages of the 2015 NBA free agency period, and the Miami Heat are one of the most intriguing teams out there when it comes to the wheelings and dealings on the market. Here's a snapshot of their current free agency plans.
Dwyane Wade To Remain In Miami For Rest Of Career?
Some NBA analysts believe that Wade's one-year, $20 million deal with the Heat is a precursor to another run through free agency next summer. However, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, "Wade taking one year was not with thought of bolting next summer. Associates say thinking is to be here going forward, will work with Heat."
While the salary cap is expected to skyrocket next summer due to the revenue influx from the NBA's new national TV deal, Wade appears poised to remain in Miami for the long haul.
Miami Out On LaMarcus Aldridge?
The rumor mill surrounding the Portland big man has been wild over the past 48 hours or so, with favorites for his services seemingly changing every hour on the hour.
What's the next wrinkle? According to Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report, a "source familiar w/ LaMarcus Aldridge’s situation says currently Spurs & Suns are front-runners. Dallas 3rd. Lakers out. Heat not happening."
While that may just be one source's take, the Heat don't look to have the salary cap room nor the leverage -- at least with how it looks right now -- to pry Aldridge out of Portland.
JJ Barea To Decide Between Dallas, Miami By This Weekend
Reserve guard JJ Barea has narrowed his free-agent decision between the incumbent Mavs and the Heat. But, which one will he choose?
“So far, there’s nothing official with Miami or Dallas," Barea said on Thursday, via Primera Hora. "I’m considering those two at this moment and must make a decision this weekend.”
The Mavs are said to be the slight favorites to retain Barea, but the allure of playing for a talented team in an Eastern Conference where an NBA Finals berth could be a lot easier to come by could be enough to lure him eastward.
