The Miami Heat only have one pick (No. 14 overall) in tonight's NBA Draft, but they are trying to acquire another one.
According to Bradford J. Ahn of HeatNation.com, Miami is eyeing a second-round pick in order to draft a center.
With the 2017 NBA Draft now just five days away, a report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald states that the Miami Heat have scheduled at least five pre-draft workouts on centers would are expected to fall below Miami’s 14th pick.
That means the Heat could be looking to trade for a second-round pick or could be looking at possible undrafted big men. Per NBA rules, the Heat could easily trade for a second-round pick using up to $3 million in available cash.
Miami held workouts for North Carolina’s Tony Bradley, Indiana’s Thomas Bryant, Connecticut’s Amidah Brimah, Vanderbilt’s Luke Kornet, and Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan in the pre-draft process.
Bradley, Bryant and Swanigan are all projected to be early to mid second-round picks, while Kornet and Brimah are both expected to be undrafted.
