In today's Heat news update, Miami Heat sharpshooter Shane Battier has already secured his next career opportunity during the team's NBA Finals run, signing a multi-year contract to become ESPN's next college basketball analyst.
Per Jason McIntyre of The Big Lead, "Shane Battier, who said two months ago that he would be retiring after this NBA season barring an “act of God,” has agreed to a multi-year TV deal with ESPN to be a college basketball analyst next season, multiple people told The Big Lead."
No indications have been made as to whether Battier will be used in-studio or as an in-game analyst, as ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz declined to comment on the particulars of the deal.
As McIntyre states, "Battier reportedly had an offer to run for Senate in his home state of Michigan, but passed."
The former Duke star is finishing his 13th season in the NBA, as he looks to win his third consecutive championship with the Heat.
