The Miami Heat finalized its 2014-15 roster on Saturday, beginning their first season without LeBron James since 2009. In total, the team will sport three new starters, nine new players altogether, and four rookies.
Per Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald, "the Heat rounded out its roster after Friday night’s preseason victory against the Grizzlies by keeping free-agent rookie Andre Dawkins for the start of the season, and waiving rookie Khem Birch. The Heat’s roster now stands at 15 players with Norris Cole, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Shawne Williams and Chris Bosh projected as the opening-night starters against the Washington Wizards at AmericanAirlines Arena on Wednesday."
Shawne Williams might be the most intriguing member of that starting five, in that not many expected the journeyman power forward to crack the team's starting lineup. However, with Josh McRoberts still out, Williams' dedication to his craft (he lost 25 pounds this offseason) has vaulted him into the rotation to open up the 2014-15 season.
