Heat Rumors: Heat have "serious interest" in free agent Caron Butler

In today's look into Heat rumors and news, the Miami Heat are looking at putting together a potential reunion with their tenth overall draft pick from the 2002 NBA Draft - Caron Butler.

Per Sam Amick of USA Today Sports, "according to a person with knowledge of his situation, Butler has serious interest from the respective conference champions, the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat, as well as the rebuilding Los Angeles Lakers. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of free agency talks."

At the present moment, the only contracted player for the Miami Heat is point guard Norris Cole - with Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis also free agents at the present time.

Adding Butler to a potentially returning Big Three would give the Heat a proven sharpshooter with veteran craftiness - Butler shot 44.1% from beyond the arc in 22 games with the Thunder last season. That's almost ten percent better than his career mark of 34.6%.

As of right now, everything is contingent on what happens with Wade, Bosh, and James. So, any potential Butler signing will most likely be put in a holding pattern until those contract situations are settled.
