Miami Heat rookie Shabazz Napier hasn't let the departure of one of his biggest fans, LeBron James, get him down in his first season on South Beach.
"I was happy to be with this organization once I heard I was coming," Napier told the New York Daily News. "This is a great organization no matter what. This team is based on championship pedigree and you should love coming to a team like that and I was appreciative that these guys gave me an opportunity like that."
Napier impressed James during the Connecticut Huskies' championship run last season, prompting LeBron to tweet that there's "no way u take another PG in the lottery before Napier."
After the Heat picked up Napier with the 24th pick of the 2014 NBA Draft, James once again tweeted is approval of the young guard.
"My favorite player in the draft! #Napier" James wrote.
However, after James left for Cleveland, many thought that would cause awkward feelings for Napier. However, that doesn't seem to be the case.
"Like I said, I was ecstatic when I found out I was playing with the Miami Heat," he said. "I understand what this organization is about and to be drafted by this team is everything that I wanted."
