Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic will be one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason with several teams pursuing his services. Which teams have the best chance to land him?
3) Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles is likely to pursue Rajon Rondo in free agency, but Dragic is their backup option if they strike out on him. Dragic has said that he sees the Lakers as “a perfect fit” and loves the thought of playing alongside Kobe Bryant in Hollywood.
2) New York Knicks
The Knicks tried to land Dragic at the trade deadline, but they just didn’t have assets to pull off a deal with the Suns. However, Dragic has said that New York is one of the few teams he’s very interested in and loves the thought of joining them in free agency. He’s not the kind of player that will turn the franchise around, but was named to the All-NBA third team in 2013-14 and would give the Knicks a true backcourt threat.
1) Miami Heat
One of the top priorities for the Heat this offseason is making sure they find a way to keep Dragic in Miami. He gave the team a huge boost in the second half of the season, and they want to make sure they didn’t make that trade for nothing. Miami can offer him more money than anyone else in free agency, and they might have to overpay to keep him in South Beach – something Pat Riley & Co. wouldn’t necessarily mind doing.
