Former Miami Dolphins president and Chief Operating Officer Bryan Wiedmeier died on Tuesday after a battle with cancer. He was 56.
Wiedmeier was first hired by the Dolphins in 1981 by the team's original owner, Joe Robbie. He held various roles with the organization. He was promoted to his role as President and COO in 2006 by H. Wayne Huizenga. With Stephen Ross, who bought the team in 2009, a organizational shift renamed Wiedmeier the team's Senior Vice President for NFL Affairs and Projects.
