The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms Wednesday with backup quarterback David Fales, a source tells ESPN.
Fales will compete with Matt Moore and 2016 seventh-round pick Brandon Doughty for Miami’s backup quarterback job behind starter Ryan Tannehill. Fales is a former sixth-round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2014. He spent one year working with Miami head coach Adam Gase while Gase was offensive coordinator of the Bears in 2015.
Gase bringing Fales to the Dolphins means the coach believes the 26-year-old quarterback has some potential. It also doesn’t hurt that Fales is familiar with Gase’s offense.
