DAVIE — Players are usually the ones who stand out on the practice field. But there’s a Dolphins coach who has earned attention in training camp.
Wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson’s energy and enthusiasm has made him somebody to keep an eye on during practice. When head coach Adam Gase was asked to use one word to describe Jefferson’s coaching style, it took him just a few seconds to provide an answer.
“Psychotic,” Gase said with a smile.
Jefferson is in his first season as the Dolphins’ wide receivers coach.
But the 47-year-old Jacksonville native brings plenty of experience to the position, as he finished his 13-year NFL career with 470 catches for 7,023 yards and 29 touchdowns.
