The sixth annual Dolphins Cancer Challenge is off and running this weekend, with CEO Michael Mandich, son of late Dolphins tight end and announcer Jim Mandich, expecting record results.
The DCC benefits the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Michael Mandich said he’s confident this year’s event can break last year’s record of $4.65 million raised.
With registration ongoing Saturday morning, the event is expected to draw roughly 3,400 participants.
“I’m certainly sensing this year will be bigger than any other year,” Mandich said.
This year’s event includes numerous cycling rides of various distances plus an inaugural 5K run/walk, capped by a concert by Grammy winners Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge, who are both cancer survivors.
