The Miami Dolphins have signed veteran linebacker Donald Butler, adding a proven NFL starter to one of the team's thinnest positions.
Butler, Nate Irving and A.J. Hawks were three veteran linebacker who worked out for the team on Tuesday.
Butler, who has started 62 games in his previous five seasons, which were all spent with the San Diego Chargers, likely won the job because of his position flexibility.
Last season Butler contributed 43 tackles, half a sack and forced one fumble in the 16 games he played for the Chargers.
