Freeman was signed on April 2nd this offseason, and put together mixed performances during his time in OTAs and Mini-Camp. Presumably, Freeman was brought in as Dennis Hickey was a member of the Buccaneers staff when he became the QB there, and Hickey wanted to give Freeman one last chance to revive his career.
It wasn't terribly long ago that Freeman was being called one of the NFL's rising stars, as he put together three very good seasons for the Buccaneers in the seasons of 2010-2012. But issues arose between Freeman and then head coach Greg Schiano, and Freeman was soon moved, and his play never recovered after the debacle that went down in Minnesota.
