Quinton Coples who was signed towards the end of the season was guaranteed a $7.5 million contract in 2016 if he was on the opening day roster. His contract was not guaranteed beyond that league stipulation and now the Dolphins reduced their cap by the full $7.5 million.
Coples didn’t play great but he didn’t play bad during his stay with the Dolphins and Miami may look to add him as depth at much reduced rate.
While no one being released at this point is truly surprising, the Dolphins opted to release corner back Brice McCain. McCain joined the Dolphins last off-season and while he played poorly on the edge he did much better as the nickel slot corner for the team.
