The Miami Dolphins made a good deal of cuts earlier this week with only a few surprises.
Today brought news that may have been the biggest surprise yet.
The Dolphins released Brandon Fields in their attempt to get down to a 53-man roster by Saturday. This means Miami will go with Matt Darr as their punter for this season.
This move very well could turn out to be similar to the Dan Carpenter release and drafting of Caleb Sturgis. Carpenter was one of the best place kickers in team history while Sturgis is fighting to stay on the roster this preseason.
