DAVIE —Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Brandon Doughty has impressed at times since he was drafted, but three days after struggling at Dallas, the 7th rounder admitted: “I have to be a better football player.”
When backup quarterback Matt Moore was knocked out of Miami’s second preseason game in the second quarter, Doughty suddenly entered. The very first snap was high. Doughty recovered, but then held the ball too long, failed to protect it and had it knocked away for a lost fumble.
Doughty finished 2-for-3 for 7 yards and 2 sacks. Against the Giants the previous week, Doughty seemed more comfortable with his footwork as well as his command of the offense.
