Miami Dolphins place RFA tender on safety Michal Thomas.

The Miami Dolphins have placed a one-year Restricted Free Agent tender on safety Michal Thomas this week, giving the team the right of first refusal if Thomas receives an offer from another team. For now, it ensures Thomas will make a minimum of $1.8 million on a one year deal in 2017.

Without a lot of projected room left room under the salary cap, the Dolphins are trying to retain their own talent. They’d very much like to keep Thomas in-house, and should he stay with Miami, the team would likely revisit his contract with either a mid-season extension or a free agent contract in 2018.
