So far this off-season the Miami Dolphins have played free agency with an eye towards compensatory draft picks in 2020. The formula is guarded by the NFL so the exact details of how teams are granted comp picks is not 100% known.
For Miami they expect to have potentially two draft picks awarded to them in 2020. Those would be for the losses of Ja’Wuan James and Cameron Wake. While it is possible to be awarded more, the signings of Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely hinder a third selection.
On Wednesday the formula is no longer in play and teams can begin signing free agents without worrying about damaging their compensatory selections.
