Almost every year, fans clamor for the Dolphins to trade back and acquire more draft picks. In 2010, I was one of those fans. There were no “franchise quarterbacks” or “blue chip” players expected to be available to the Dolphins when they made the 12th pick in the draft.
In the days leading up to the draft, most mock drafts had the Dolphins selecting safety Earl Thomas at 12. On the other hand, if Miami couldn’t trade back, I was hoping the Dolphins would select center Maurkice Pouncey. I pictured Pouncey coming in and being the best Dolphins center since Dwight Stephenson.
