When the Miami Dolphins entered the 2019 off-season Akeem Spence was often mentioned as a cap casualty. He hung around and the Dolphins entered training camp with him on the roster.
Now that camp has ended, the Dolphins who have seen pleasant performances out of their defensive lineman, including rookie Christian Wilkins, no longer sees a need for Spence. His entire salary was not guaranteed.
Releasing Spence added $3.2 million to the Dolphins cap room.
Spence wasn’t the only veteran released. Jordan Mills also found his way out of Miami after a poor showing in preseason and training camp.
