It's so easy to lose focus on the true spirit of Thanksgiving. The smell of a turkey coming out of the oven, seeing the bowl of mashed potatoes so large that it takes up half of the table, even the freshly made salad that everyone tries to ignore because they'd rather carb up and crash on the couch after the meal is over.
There isn't anything inherently wrong with any of these things, we should enjoy the time together with friends and family as we gather together to enjoy a meal and probably some football afterwards.
But the true spirit of Thanksgiving is about counting your blessings and giving thanks for everything you have, even the things we often take for granted, like the very food around the table you enjoy on Thanksgiving.
