The Miami Dolphins trimmed their roster down to 53 players on Saturday, and toay they began the designation of their 10 practice squad spots. One player who many were surprised was cut is center Sam Brenner who played in seven games and started four of them with the Dolphins in 2013.
Brenner reportedly had offers from multiple teams and the Dolphins gave him an increased salary of around $10,000 per week, which is substantially higher than the league practice squad minimum of $6,600 per week. Brenner has been performing well in the preseason, and this paired with his admirable performance in the 2013-2014 earned him his spot.
