Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Monday that officials made the correct call in penalizing receiver Jarvis Landry for the devastating block that knocked Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams out of Sunday’s game.
Bills coach Rex Ryan took his criticism much further.
“It’s totally unnecessary,” Ryan said. “Was it dirty? Yeah. I’m surprised he did it, and I’m disappointed. Now I have a player in jeopardy. Did he target? Did he launch? Yeah. You can check all the boxes.”
Ryan suggested the NFL consider the NCAA targeting rule in which players are ejected if replays confirm a player launched himself to deliver a blow to the head.
