The NFL's free agency period will officially begin today at 4pm ET, when the new league year officially begins. The "legal tampering" period will continue up until that point, during which teams will talk to player agents about possible contracts, but nothing can be signed until that 4pm mark. The Miami Dolphins have one move waiting for the start of the new year, a agreed to trade with the Philadelphia Eagles that will send cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to South Florida.
The team also made their first free agent signing on Tuesday, bringing defensive end Mario Williams to the club.
