With the ninth overall pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft, the Oakland A’s selected outfielder Kyler Murray. In June, the team and Murray agreed to terms on a contract worth $4.66 million, but allowed the two-sport player to return to Oklahoma for his fall football season, getting a chance to start at quarterback after being the backup to Baker Mayfield.
Murray won the Hesiman Trophy in 2018, and has accepted an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, but has kept quiet about his intentions when it comes to a baseball career. At least, he had stayed quiet until Monday:
Murray released a statement on Twitter that confirms he is committed to being an NFL quarterback, despite the baseball career he could have.
