MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula has been admitted to a South Florida hospital, according to his wife Mary-Ann.
Shula, 86, is being treated at the hospital due to fluid retention and sleep apnea after having difficulty breathing on Monday night.
“Coach Shula has been admitted to the hospital due to fluid retention and sleep apnea. The family is looking for a speedy recovery,” said Mary Ann Shula in a statement.
Shula was head coach of the Dolphins from 1970 to 1995, leading the team to Super Bowl championships in 1972 and 1973, while also reaching the big game in 1971, 1983 and 1985.
