DAVIE – Shawn Jefferson stepped onto the practice field Tuesday wearing shoulder pads under a plain white jersey and aqua sweat pants.
Not your typical garb for a receiver’s coach.
But Jefferson is not your typical receiver’s coach, not when he participates in a drill in which he personally takes on blocks from his receivers, starting about 10 yards away and colliding with his players while holding a padded shield.
The purpose of the drill is to teach the receivers the correct angle to take on the safety while teaching the “push cracking” blocking technique.
