The Miami Dolphins worked out veteran inside linebacker Brandon Spikes on Wednesday, kicking the tires on the former Florida Gator standout who spent last season out of the NFL.
Spikes, who is viewed as a run stuffing specialist, has started 49 games in the five seasons he's spent playing for the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills.
He's contributed 340 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions during his NFL career, which has been hindered by numerous injuries, and a drug suspension. Last year Spikes was suspended for the first four weeks of the regular season for violating the NFL's conduct policy, but he didn't get signed by an NFL team.
