The only positions the Dolphins will not draft are punter, kicker, and quarterback. Matt Darr is the punter and Andrew Franks is the kicker for the 2017 season. Both players will become restricted free agents in 2018.
Currently, the Dolphins have depth at the quarterback position with four under contract for 2017. Ryan Tannehill is the starter and is under contract until 2020. Matt Moore is the veteran backup for 2017 and a free agent in 2018. Brandon Doughty is a young developmental backup quarterback, who becomes an exclusive rights free agent in 2019.
Recently, the Dolphins signed David Fales on April 5th to compete with Brandon Doughty for the third string quarterback position.
