Dolphins waive Jason Jones

The Miami Dolphins have announced the team waived defensive end Jason Jones on Friday, freeing up a roster space. The team could be looking to add depth elsewhere on the defense with the move, calling up someone from the team’s practice squad.

The move comes as a surprise, but according to multiple media reports, the Dolphins had decided not to play Jones this Sunday. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson adds that there is no legal issue that is tied to the roster move by the Dolphins, and it is unclear if the move comes following any sort of reaction from Jones to the news he would not be playing on Sunday.
