PHILADELPHIA — Linebacker Mike Hull, who had a solid training camp with the Dolphins and has been on the team’s practice squad, was promoted to 53-man roster on Saturday.
The Dolphins released defensive tackle A.J. Francis.
As a senior at Penn State last year, Hull led the Big Ten with 140 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss. He also had two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.
He was named 2014 Big Ten Butkus Linebacker of the Year.
The Dolphins might be looking for help against the run. They are 31st of 32 teams in rushing yards allowed this season at 142.
