Dolphins waive Brandon Doughty, re-sign Chris Jones

The Miami Dolphins have waived third-string quarterback Brandon Doughty, the team announced on Wednesday. The Dolphins made the move in order to re-sign defensive tackle Chris Jones, adding depth to a position where the team had defensive tackle Earl Mitchell land on Injured Reserve this week with a calf injury.

Jones re-joins the Dolphins after being waived among the last roster cuts Miami made this summer. Jones originally joined Miami in April, claiming him off waivers from the New England Patriots. Jones spent three years with the Patriots, beginning in 2013. Over the first two years, he played in 28 games, with 23 starts, tallying 79 tackles and nine sacks.
