Dolphins sign RB Isaiah Pead

The Miami Dolphins lost former starting running back Lamar Miller in free agency and failed to sign a couple of replacements this offseason in C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson.

However Miami finally closed the deal on a new tailback Thursday. The team agreed to terms with free-agent running back Isaiah Pead, a league source confirmed.

It’s unlikely Pead is the long-term solution. The former second-round draft pick rushed for just three yards on two carries last season. He will compete to provide depth.

The Dolphins currently have 2015 fifth-round pick Jay Ajayi as their projected starter, although drafting a top prospect in April could change those plans.
